Train with your brain

Why Workout With Electrical Stimulation?

It takes hundreds of repetitions and thousands of pounds to get muscles to grow. However, before coming to Innervation, many of my clients have fallen short of their goals because they keep getting derailed by pain or injury.

Using electrical stimulation with the NeuFit Neubie allows us to do 3 very important things:

  1. Make your muscle work hard as if it was lifting heavy weights for many repetitions

  2. Allow you to use much lighter weights, which spares you from joint pain and keeps you on track longer.

  3. Retrain your brain to activate your muscles on its own to a higher degree, allowing you better strength and range of motion.

In a peer-reviewed 2022 study, it was discovered that working out with the Neubie and zero weight was as effective as building muscle as working out with weights alone. Read the study here.

Strength starts with the brain. Strong starts in the mind.

Strength is the neurological skill of recruiting as many available muscle fibers as possible to work together to move the most load possible. If you want a strong body, you've got to have a smart nervous system. The Neubie improves mind-muscle connection so you can improve your technique and your poundages if you're trying to get stronger.

The Neubie also generates 3 to 4 times the intensity for muscle contractions that our own brain can do when we try to produce a maximal effort. A more challenging workout experience will also build resilience to the everyday stresses we face!

Testimonials

If you’ve ever….

  • Wanted to get stronger but felt unsure what to do in the gym

  • Gotten confused and discouraged by seeing everyone else looking fit on Instagram

  • Started going to the gym but old aches and pains started creeping up

  • Hit weight loss plateaus

  • Found it hard to make time with your busy schedule….

Then we can help.

Is recovering from chronic pain or illness hard? You bet.
Will the training in the gym be challenging? Absolutely.

Recovery can be hard and the workouts can be challenging, but on the other side of that is the strong, healthy body you’ve always wanted and were never sure how to achieve.

You can count our unwavering belief that you can hit your goals. We will establish attainable goals and scale the exercises to whatever your ability and fitness level. And we know that you have bad days - high stress, low energy, etc. - so we promise to meet you where you are on that day and help you feel better leaving them gym than when you arrived. One my favorite quotes is from client Christa:

“Working with Clay is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I discovered strength I never knew I had. He is motivating and kind, meeting you at whatever your starting place is.”

Our personal training company is also the only one in Austin with its own Medical Director, who is available to help guide us in creating your plan of care along the way. Between that and our use of an FDA-cleared electrical stimulation device during the sessions, we’re proud to call what we do medical grade fitness.

Make the most out of your time in the gym.

We know that between work and family, you may only have a couple hours every week in the gym. That’s why we train using the NeuFit Neubie, an FDA cleared medical device that can make the muscles work as if they’re lifting heavy weights without exposing the joints to heavy weights.

It’s the science-backed tool you didn’t know you needed to get the most out your workouts!

Bring a Friend!

Our machines allow us to manage two clients at the same time. You and your friend will be able to dictate just how strong you want your current to be, independent of each other. We even use the machines during our group classes

 Frequency Asked Questions

Yes I know it’s supposed to be “frequently”. It’s an electrical stimulation joke…

  • Not at all! The current is pulsed in the same way the brain sends electrical pulses along the nerves to activate muscles, but on a level about 4 times more intense. So while you’ll feel some buzzing from the stimulation, you’ll feel the muscles contracting more.

  • We rounded up all our hot friends for pictures to grab your attention, but yes this is definitely for you

  • We recommend all of our clients train with us twice per week. Each session is one hour long. Typically that’s one upper body day and one lower body day unless we have some other specific goal in mind.

  • The worse we could do is make you a little more sore. No real harm is possible. If you are pregnant or have a pacemaker, the Neubie is contraindicated for your use. We can still work out together without it though!

  • Normally, our nervous system only allows us access to 30-40% of our muscles - even when we’re trying to squeeze them as hard as possible.

With the Neubie, we can get nearly 100% activation during exercise. The brain senses that it’s okay to activate the muscles to this degree and takes it foot off the brake a little, allowing you more access to that muscle next time

  • Yes! Go to our page The Science to read all of the published articles and case studies. Even the most staunch skeptic might be swayed…

  • Because we are activating and tearing down more muscle fibers than working out without the machine, there is going to be more muscle proteins in the blood stream. Stay on top of your hydration and be kind to your liver and kidneys with food and alcohol.

  • Yes! Any creature with a nervous system would benefit from this technology. Dogs and horses do especially well during rehab sessions.

  • This may sound like a funny question, but we get asked this all the time. Don’t worry about accidentally looking like a bodybuilder - it takes people who are very serious about lifting weights many years to even come close.

On average, our male clients enjoy 1.5-2lbs of muscle gain per month and our female clients gain .5-1.5lbs of lean muscle.

Because of the increased demand on the body from building muscle, our clients are also able to lose between .5% and 1% body fat every month without changing their diet.

  • We provide personalized workout programming through an app called TrainHeroic. This programming can be as much as $120/mo but is free for our in person clients who we see at least once a week.

  • Yes, all clients are required to either purchase a monthly membership ($70/mo) or drop in passes ($10/ea) for sessions.
