Coaching for the Self-Starter

As I mentioned in a recent blog post, not everybody wants a personal trainer. Not everybody wants to go to the gym. In fact, most folks don't. That's okay. It's sweaty, it can be expensive, and what are you even doing in there? And why is everybody so tit already? That guy is huge - isn't he done working out? Get out of here, jacked guy.

It's for that reason a lot of people turn into sources like YouTube, tick tock and even Facebook for the best workout tips. Searching things like how do you get your abs to show? What's the best diet? How do you burn fat? How do you get rid of the “mom pooch”?

But there's a lot of information out there and it's easy to get overwhelmed by everything. And maybe personal training is not for you, either for budgetary reasons or otherwise.

This is why I started offering free half hour consultations for people who don't want the accountability of a personal trainer but want to know what they should be doing in the gym. What do I get out of this? Nothing other than goodwill, mostly. At first, I used these calls as a way to advertise my programming services, but it seems like the calls are more successful when the client gets all the information they needed to create their own program. Educating people is one of the things that's most important to me and, although I have my bias on what works and what doesn't, I like to think we give pretty fair advice around here.

Eschewing the bullshit is just one of the many services we offer here at Innervation…

Maybe you’re the type of person who would go to the gym if they knew what they were doing. Or if they trusted that the program they were on was going to get them to their goals. Maybe you don't want to train her because you can't afford it or don't think you need it. You just want to know what to do. You don't even want accountability. If this is you, scheduling a free half hour consult to answer your questions could be a great first step. No sales pressure; just information on what we think you might need.

If you want to bring up the topics of in-person training or workout programming, you’re welcome to, but that is not the purpose of the call

Since shifting to this “information only” phone call intention, it's built us a lot of trust in the area as people who are truly interested in your success. For me personally, my goal is to have the biggest impact possible and I can't do that with just one client per hour. But if I know we spoke and you’re sprinkling in some of the spicy tidbits I've given you on the phone, I feel good knowing that my own impact has spread like cream cheese on an everything bagel.

Damn, I just realized this intermittent fasting has got me even writing about food now.

How should you get started? Well I’ve gratuitously strewn this link a couple times, but here it is again. Set up a no-pressure discovery call to see if we can be a resource to you.
